If you have children who love to play basketball, but do not have a basketball court nearby, you may want to consider having one created for them. Paving contractors can come and lay pavement just about anywhere that you want them to. The guide below walks you through the steps to take to create a one-of-a-kind basketball court for your kids right in your own backyard.
Consider the Placement of the Court
The first thing you need to consider is where you want the court to be placed. You want to be sure that your family still has plenty of room to run and play in the yard after the court is created. You may want to stick it in the corner of your yard to ensure you still have the rest of the space to enjoy.
Consider the Size of the Court
A basketball court can take up a lot of room, if you choose to have a full-size court created. If you want to give your children the ability to practice without taking up every inch of your yard, you may want to consider having a half court created, rather than a full court. They will still be able to practice, but will not have as much of the court to cover.
Consult with the Paving Company
Contact the paving company and have a technician come to your home to walk you through what needs to be done before the pavement can be laid. You will need to clean debris from the area, remove any trees that are in the way, and you may have to work with the technician to mark the exact location of the court.
A Frame Will be Built
Before the pavement can be laid, a frame will be built to keep the pavement from spreading too far. At this point, you need to decide how thick you want the pavement to be. The thicker it is, the less likely it will be to crumble in the future.
The Pavement Will be Laid
Once the frame is complete, the contractors will lay the pavement. No one can walk on it for a few days to give it plenty of time to dry. Once it is dry, you can paint it to the exact dimensions of a half court.
When complete, the court will provide your children with a fun place to play. The entire process does not take very long and will provide your children with years of entertainment.Share
